The Shelter Link program provides Internet based Video Remote Interpreting
services and equipment for emergency shelters where communication is
critical on a 24/7 basis. Video conferencing units are connected to Deaf
Link's communication center, which is manned around the clock with certified
interpreters. The Shelter Link program provides communication access in
American Sign Language as well as spoken languages to facilitate effective
communication between evacuees, doctors, nurses, security personnel, and
volunteers. Shelter Link units were used in Texas shelters during hurricanes
Katrina, Rita, Gustav and Ike. Please click on the links below to view a short video on
